Had an absolutely blessed time while guiding Paul and Robyn, AKA a @acouplewithoutborders We originally met on Instagram, and they decided to come to the RGV on 4-2-19. For our first day of the tour, we went out to Cameron County, where we started off at South Padre Island to catch up with neo-tropical migrants. Next we went to Laguna Vista Nature Trail where they found their first lifer of the trip, a Buff-bellied Hummingbird. Two more lifers were picked up at that location. Olive Sparrow, and a rare Varied Bunting! we were so surprised and happy to see this bird. I only got a distant photo, but fortunately, Paul was able to reach and get a nice photo of the Varied Bunting with his long reach point and shoot camera. After this, we headed out to the Brownsville Landfill to pick up a few more lifers like Chihuahuan Raven. We did so well there we got everything we needed, and we got one more lifer for all, a stunning Glaucus Gull! After that we went off to Sabal Palm Sanctuary, and Resaca De La Palma State Park to pick up some more of the RGV specialties. Last, we had to end the day at Olivera Park, where they picked up 2 new species of Parrots. Stay tuned for Day 2 of our tour around the RGV.
