After the boat docks, you can visit the South Padre Island Sealife Center and explore other sea creatures. You can hold starfish and snails in their touch tanks and aquariums. Take a ground tour and make your way to the Point Isabel Lighthouse, which was built in 1852 near the Civil War Battle Palmito Ranch and Mexican War Battles of Palo Alto and Resaca de la Palma. It also served as the outlook for the Gulf of Mexico and the Laguna Madre Bay. Although there are sixteen other lighthouses along the Texas coast, Point Isabel Lighthouse is the only one open to the public.
